The FIDE awards ceremony for the winners of the Year of the Woman in Chess Awards took place on 5th August 2022 at the FIDE Congress in Chennai, India during the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022.

At the FIDE Congress in Chennai the women from IPCA, Miss Dariia Kudainazarova (junior-girl from Kyrgyzstan) and Mrs. Svetlana Gerasimova (Russia), as the representatives of Asia and Europe received the FIDE awards in category the Woman with Disability for “Outstanding Fighting Spirit”.

Mrs. Svetlana Gerasimova, the IPCA Vice-President and the Senior coach of the Russian national chess team of the physically disabled people received the special FIDE award for “Outstanding Fighting Spirit” at the FIDE Congress in Chennai.

At the FIDE Congress in Chennai the Russian woman Svetlana Gerasimova, thanking you for the FIDE award, appealed to the participants of the FIDE Congress to restore to participation of the disabled teams in all category of disability at the World Chess Olympiad.

During her speech, she expressed also a hope that the disabled teams from the Russian and Belarusian Federations will take part in the World Chess Olympiad for the disabled people.

“I approach on behalf of the disabled people in all categories of disability with a request to return the disabled teams at the World Chess Olympiad.
I also hope that the disabled teams from Russia and Belarus will take part in the World Chess Olympiad among the disabled people.
