Polenovo “Scarlet Flower” Competition 2021, March 03 – April 02

In the Children’s Republic camp “Polenovo” in Tula region Russia, the XXIX All-Russian chess and checkers competition for children with musculoskeletal disorders “Scarlet Flower” has come to an end.

Competitions were held from March 26 to April 2. They were attended by athletes under the age of 18 from 12 regions of Russia: Arkhangelsk, Penza, Samara, Kurgan, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen regions, Altai, Krasnodar and Perm regions, the Republics of Mordovia and Bashkortostan and the City of Moscow.

The competition program included chess and checkers, boccia bag (bean bag toss,) darts and checkers-100.

The team of the Kurgan region won in the team event. The second place was taken by athletes from the Republic of Mordovia. In third place are representatives of the Altai Territory.
The results of the competition are available on the website of the Russian Paralympic Committee in the “Protocols” section.

The “Scarlet Flower” competition has been held since 1991 and has become the first step for many disabled athletes to conquer sports peaks. The youngest participant in the last competition was 8-year-old Ivan Guryev from the Penza region (born on June 19, 2012).
